Do you have a reason to improve your memory or brain health?

We all know there are things we should do, but what makes us actually get up and do them?

I don’t think there are many people who can say they never forget anything. We all, at one time or another, have forgotten someone’s name or where we know them from.

Is the embarrassment we feel when we do forget, enough?

This embarrassment is very real. And we certainly wouldn’t want to keep repeating it, would we?

Is embarrassment enough for us to take action?

Is a little forgetfulness okay? Or is it the warning sign of aging memory loss?

What would make you stop and think about a whether a little forgetfulness was okay or the signs that it might be time to start taking some action?

There are solutions and they don’t have to be massively life changing. In fact you probably already do at least some of the things every day – why not check out the simple 8 habits to help set your brain up for the future?

Don’t be embarrased, do something today to help your brain.

Are you a frequent traveler? Perhaps you commute via plane.
Here’s something to give your brain a little exercise this fine morning!
Another one of those top 10 puns, but this one is dedicated to all plane travelers!
A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons.
The stewardess looks at him and says…….
“I’m sorry, [...]

Is brain training is the key?

Regardless of how you want to increase your brain fitness or brain health, you have to train yourself to create new habits.

Maybe you need to remember to take a daily tablet, eat particular brain foods, do some exercise or just drink water instead of coffee? The key is to train yourself and your brain to form a new habit.

I’ve been searching for ways to improve my brain speed, accelerated learning techniques and to improve my memory – quite simply because I have realised that when I don’t use it, I am losing it!

Life is short, and I need a full deck to continue enjoying it.

Research continues to point towards the likelihood that a brain that stays active is less likely to succumb to dementia or Alzheimers’.

The science? I definitely don’t have a degree in Neurology or whatever it is called, nor do I want one. I start reading the research and quite frankly, it sends me to sleep!

I don’t need to know how an airplane works to fly in one – catch my drift! Equally, I am not stupid and I certainly do look into things to make sure that there are credible sources etc.

For any new habit to stick, I need to know:

Does it work?

Can I make it fit into my lifestyle?

It is easy to find brain games or brain teasers, a vitamin, a food, some music, techniques for improving brain function, speed or increased memory – the hard part is whether you will make it a part of your lifestyle? Will you make it a habit?

Do you have any ideas for forming habits?

I hope no-one takes any offence at this…

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which
produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very
little, which made him rather frail and, with his odd diet, he suffered from
bad breath. This made him (Oh, man, this is so bad, it’s good) a super
calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Seriously! Can you take me seriously after that?

Now for the brain bit! The ability to make and understand puns is considered to be the highest level of language development.

If you got this pun, you have just proved you have a high level of language development – well done!

There were ten puns in the email, I have only included one. If you want to see some more let me know!

I feel for Karen the wife of Adam the sleep talkin’ man!

You’ve probably heard about them. Adam talks in his sleep and Karen writes down what he says. She is now blogging it for everyone to read.

Some of it is rather hilarious! It brings back memories of my sister who could apparently “Play a tune on my tractor!” a classic sleep talk when she was young.

Right now Karen and Adam are riding high on the wave of their new internet t-shirt business based on the quotes from his sleep talking. They are doing the rounds of interviews and publicity, which would be exhausting!

I noticed today, that Karen wrote on their blog that Adam didn’t talk in his sleep last night. She mentioned she was actually grateful he didn’t talk in his sleep – probably because she was so tired that she wanted uninterrupted sleep!

Karen describes her husband’s nightly sleep talking as cathartic. A way for him to banish his demons perhaps? Mind you when you read what he says, you wonder about the kinds of demons he has!

They have no plans to go see a specialist about it because she feels it is not affecting Adam’s health.

The real questions is: What affect is her husband’s sleep talking having on HER quality of sleep?

Lack of sleep can make you irritable initially, but studies have shown that it also impairs your brain function and can have long term health damaging effects.

Something like 20% of car accidents can be attributed to lack of sleep.

Do you think you get good sleep? Do you sleep enough? Would you do get your sleep talking man or woman to get it checked out? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Talk soon,

Who doesn’t want to know how to live 100 years or more? Could BINGO be the answer?

I just had to write about this today! I saw this news item on the newsfeed at USA Today.

In Australia a bingo caller celebrated her 100th birthday on New Year’s Day.

100 is a very special milestone and not many can boast getting there. When you do see centenarians they are often in homes, but not Cecily Gaunson.

100 years young, Cecily still calls the numbers in her home town bingo hall three times a week!

She has been calling the bingo numbers for the last 40 years.

I was wondering if there were any other clues to her active at 100 lifestyle!

Cecily, from New South Wales in Australia says she does NOT smoke, eats a good breakfast every day and thinks that laughter is the best medicine of all. She is known to crack a joke between number calls.

Perhaps I should try to track her down for an interview and see if she practices all my 8 habits? Now wouldn’t that be something!

Do you know any stories about other centenarians? It would be great to hear them.

Talk soon,

Why Habits?

Why not 8 Secrets To Increase Brain Power Naturally? Secrets sound so much more interesting and enticing than habits!

Habits sound dull!

No apologies from me because, if you really want to make changes and make them stick, then habits the way to go!

To paraphrase the late, great Jim Rohn: Motivation gets you going. HABIT keeps you going!

Motivation is your reason, purpose or why you do something.

We are usually motivated by pleasure or pain!

We either move TOWARDS or AWAY FROM things we want or like.

Whatever your motivation, you are here right now reading this. However, for results you need to take the information I present and as unsexy as habits sound, habits are what is required to make your good intentions stick!

So habits is what they are! Each one can easily be incorporated into your life everyday. In fact, you probably are already doing most of them to some degree already.

I hope you enjoy the summary of the 8 Habits To Increase Brain Power Naturally I have put together. If you don’t already have your copy fill in the simple form on the right hand sidebar and follow the instructions.

Don’t forget to leave me some comments, questions or any areas you’d like to know more about.

One of the new games on FitBrains has me in a spin! I just cannot seem to crack level 5 of SumSnap! I get tantalizingly close to the goal, but time runs out…. And I just don’t seem to be getting that much closer.

I know I am pretty good at most things, but this one has me almost obsessed to crack it – I sail through the other levels! Anyone out there tried it and have any hints or tips for me?

I’d really appreciate any help – it will probably save me an hour a day of frustration!!!

Hoping to hear from you,

Recently, I met a young woman on her way back home to Europe after traveling in South East Asia. She was in her twenties and was traveling to “discover herself and purpose”. Well that is what she was telling herself, when in fact it seemed she was trying to get over a very unhealthy relationship back home.

Even though she had traveled, met new people, seen exciting new places, she was still dwelling on the past and trying to understand it, rather than just letting it go. She was also convinced, she would always have relationships like that and she would most likely go straight back into another similar one when she got home.

This conversation, although short, highlights what I see many people do. They try very elaborate schemes to “deal” with breakups and unhealthy relationships, and traveling is a common one.

The trouble is you get back to your old life and you go virtually straight back into the same pattern. Usually, you need more than just seeing new places and meeting new people, you actually need to deal with these things that keep a grip on you.

One of my ways I have found beneficial is Hale Dwoskin’s <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/mo75hz74z6MPWTVOUVMOOSUUUR"target="_blank"onmouseover="window.status='http://www.sedona.com';return true;"onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">The Sedona Method. This methodology can be used to help in many different parts of life including letting go of unhealthy relationships.

Let me know what you think.

The other day I was reading some quotes from Dr Denis Waitley from his book The Seeds of Greatness, when one stopped me in my tracks.

To give you some background, I have been looking at Hale Dwoskin’s <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/mo75hz74z6MPWTVOUVMOOSUUUR"target="_blank"onmouseover="window.status='http://www.sedona.com';return true;"onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">The Sedona Method and preparing to review it (it’s been a problem because the methodology and courses cover so much!). So I am currently tuned into the ideas behind letting go of the past and things we don’t want in our lives.

The funny thing is I have read these quotes before, and it was only now that I really got it.

I have written an article <a href="http://www.product-review-and-information.com/letting-go-of-the-past.html"target="_blank"onmouseover="window.status='http://www.product-review-and-information.com/letting-go-of-the-past.html';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">Letting Go Of The Past With Three Simple Questions. The article explores my thoughts and interpretation of the quote in this context.

Let me know what you think.

Hope
